Welcome to our Teen Ministries. This section is here to give you some information about who we are and what we are doing as a group. We hope you plan on joining us in the future and find out more about us.
Meeting times: Sundays 9:30am-10:30am
Wednesdays 6:45am-8:15pm
The goal of our Teen Ministry is to equip our teens to succeed and excel spiritually throughout their lives. The teen years are a formidable time in which young people are forming worldviews and making decisions regarding their future. We want to help them form their worldview and make future decisions through the lens of God's Word. We believe that this can be accomplished through sound teaching, personal devotions, service activities, individual discipleship, and continual application of God's Word. We have adopted the student ministry philosophy of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, MN.
Sunday School
Content: During Sunday School we emphasize Bible Basics. Our goal in this time is to give teens a yearly comprehensive overview of four areas including: 'Growing in Christ', 'Church Life', 'Bible Study' and 'Applying the Bible'. Each year we will build upon the previous year's material and take each teen a little deeper in his or her understanding of God's Word and relationship with Christ. This year our classes include: 'Jump Start: Basics for Believers', 'Friendship: How to Make Good Friends', 'Missions: Can I Serve Now?' and 'The Book of Philippians'.
Format: Our goal is to take the truths of God's Word and present them in an environment and style that will be enjoyable, yet will stretch the teens in their walk with God. The Sunday School time is an hour long and includes a time of interaction with other teens and a Bible lesson.
Wednesday Teen Club
Content: This year we are doing a study on surrendering to Christ in salvation and submission to His way, using the Sermon on the Mount to demonstrate the character of genuine followers of Christ. We are currently using a material developed by Children Desiring God, entitled Teach Me Your Way.
Format: Our goal is to take the truths of God's Word, present them, lead the teens in meaningful discussion relating to them, and then apply them to their lives specifically. We have a discussion group for both the junior high and senior high. The club time consists of ice-breakers, worship time, teaching, discussion, and application. The teens also have an opportunity to work through a journal and different books to challenge them during the week to grow deeper in their relationship with Christ.
Missions Trip 2009-2010
For the first time ever, our teens and young adults will have an opportunity to take part in a missions trip to the greater Boston, Massachusetts area. There they will serve the congregation of
Evangelical Baptist Church by helping them as they reach out to the community around them. In preparation for this trip, the teens will learn about servanthood and missions, as well as raise funds through service-based fundraisers.
